One Day To Feed The World
An easy, but life-changing program
While Bruce Morris, pastor of Calvary Community Assembly in Las Vegas, washed his car his neighbor stopped by to chat. The conversation eventually turned to charities and missions projects. When Morrris told his neighbor about Convoy of Hope’s One Day to Feed the World program something unexpected happened.
“Even though he did not attend our church he said he wanted to take part in it,” says Morris. “Like the people in our congregation, he wanted to help hurting people.”
The goal of the One Day to Feed the World program is to get every individual in participating churches to give one day’s pay to help hurting and hungry people throughout the world.
Convoy of Hope is able to do that effectively because of its worldwide network and ability to multiply each gift up to 10 times its value in food and relief supplies.
Having been affiliated with Convoy of Hope for years Morris brought the One Day to Feed the World program to his congregation for two main reasons: everyone — no matter how much they made — could be involved, and money could be raised quickly for those in need.
“One Day to Feed the World gives everyone in our congregation the opportunity to help those in need,” he says. “It’s such a practical way to reach out to people and have an impact in cities and countries around the world.”
Indeed. It can also unify a congregation by providing an inexpensive, creative, compassionate and Kingdom-enhancing activity that congregations rally around.
“This program lets us be Christ’s hand extended to the world,” adds Morris. “I would recommend that any church or person get involved.”
